Completing the Infection Prevention Risk Assessment, Part 1 & Part 2
Libby Chinnes, MSN, CIC was a faculty presenter at our annual Infection Prevention Strategies for Ambulatory Surgery Centers conferece in Las Vegas on October 6 & 7, 2016. Libby presented a Part One and a Part Two course on Completing the Infection Prevention Risk Assessment. Part One consists of 64 minutes of lecture preparing the audience for Part Two which is a live hands-on workshop giving them the opportunity to fill out a risk assessment and to have questions & answers about the risk assessment process.

Libby has had her own consulting company, IC Solutions, LLC for the past 16 years and as formerly coordinator for the Infection Prevention Program at Roper Health System, Charleston, SC. She has worked in Infection Prevention for over 30 years in all settings and is Board Certified in infection prevention and control since 1983. Libby most recently co-authored a chapter on “Meeting Infection Prevention Challenges in Ambulatory Care Settings” in the APIC/Joint Commission Resources (JCR) Workbook, 2016.
Libby has published several books on the topic, numerous articles, and lectured extensively throughout the country to APIC Chapters, AORN, state ambulatory surgery societies, AVA, nursing home associations and numerous other organizations. She has served APIC in many capacities including on the state and the national level. She is a frequent faculty member in APIC courses: EPI 101, EP1 201, and Ambulatory Surgery as well as extended faculty for AHRQ’s Safety Program for Ambulatory Surgery. Libby has also assisted APIC Consulting and numerous healthcare industry corporations with various projects. Her passion and singular goal is making a difference in safer patient care in all healthcare settings and engaging others to do so as well.

Part One is a 64-minute presentation which gives the overview of what is involved in completing an infection prevention risk assessment form for your ambulatory surgery center. Libby covers all the topics and their importance in a risk assessment. Part Two is a 51-minute live hands-on workshop by Libby allowing her audience a chance to work in teams in filling out a risk assessment.
