DVD:  This DVD video recording is one of 14 presentations given at our 2-day September 2012 Infection Prevention Strategies for ASC's conference.

Faculty / Speaker:  Michael Peabody, AAAHC / CMS Surveyor and ASC Administrator, Surgical Care Affiliates

Michael has over 30 years of healthcare management experience.  After 15 years in various hospital management positions, Michael entered the ASC industry in 1997 as administrator of a six operating room freestanding surgery center in Kettering, Ohio.  Johnson & Johnson Ambulatory Surgery Group, now known as Health Inventures, managed this center.  As administrator, he coordinated the construction, opening, and management of the facility that eventually averaged over 700 cases per month.

Michael was promoted from ASC administrator to Regional Operations Manager for Johnson & Johnson.  In this role he had national responsibility for the pre-operations development of J & J managed ASC’s.  Over a three-year span he coordinated the opening of 18 ambulatory surgery facilities. In addition, he had Regional Manager responsibility for two ASC’s in California.

Most recently Michael has been consulting with a variety of ASC Development and Management companies.  His most recent project was a de novo surgery center project that opened in Beverly Hills, CA doing general, endoscopy, and bariatric cases.

He joined Surgical Care Affiliates in late 2011 and is the administrator of two centers in Des Moines, IA doing over 900 cases per month.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Dayton and is a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati with an MBA.  He currently is certified as a Medicare surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and serves both as a survey chairperson and a surveyor trainer.
