About Our Speaker: Cathy has over 25+ years in healthcare services management. As Regional Administrator for NovaMed, she oversaw operations of the physician practices as well as surgery centers and optical shops in the metro St. Louis / Illinois area. Cathy is President and Founder of Excellentia Advisory Group, a consulting and development company serving both the surgical industry through ASCS as well as surgical hospitals and the outpatient industry through physician practices and ancillary centers. Cathy for the past several years has studied all the regulatory agencies that impact the ASC industry and has made herself an expert on the subject. Cathy is a frequently speaker at State ASC conferences to speak on regulatory compliance topics. Cathy also offers expertise in running the day-to-day operations of a surgery center and assists several privately-owned surgery centers across the country as their management company and/or sits on their Board. Her vision is to offer services that will be cost effective for her clients and fill those gaps that occur due to immediate needs. Description:

Whether you never closed, have just reopened, have a date in mind, or just don’t know what to do…… this one-hour presentation will explore the requirements and discuss implementation strategies. Obviously, it is no longer business as usual. Life will likely be forever changed for our ASC’s as we enter into this new normal.

Our patients need us more now than ever as their elective surgeries have been postponed, many multiple times! It is less likely now that patients will be comfortable to have procedures performed in a hospital especially if it is an approved ASC procedure. In other words, we ASCs will become the venue of choice. An ASC offers a smaller more controlled facility. With that said, it is incumbent on the facility to project confidence to patients that you are offering them a safe environment.

The same can be said for your obligation to your employees. Assuring them that you are taking every precaution possible is not only your obligation as an employer, but also a necessary step moving forward to maintain an active staff roster. It will also be necessary to insist on compliance, there can be no short cuts here.

Review the federal requirements and CDC recommendations
Explore how the state requirements may be stricter
Discuss initial pre-planning, especially for those facilities that were in fact closed
Examine environmental strategies for moving forward
Look at how proper scheduling can assist you during this awkward time
