Description: Loie was an Infection Prevention Specialist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis Missouri. She graduated with RN 25+ years ago, and then received a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Leadership. Loie was certified in Infection Control in 2005. She possesses a varied medical/surgical nursing background including emergency medicine and trauma. Infection Control became her area of specialty in 2003. Loie has authored and co-authored several abstracts for both APIC and SHEA, and has presented at the National APIC conference in San Jose and Denver, as well as at the Bi-State Infectious Disease Conference in St. Louis and at the Little Rock Chapter of APIC Infectious Disease Conference. She is the co-author of a chapter in the 3rd edition of the SHEA text, “Practical Epidemiology in Healthcare.”
Description: This video recording is recording of a prior 1 hour webinar on the emerging of candida auris. C. auris is no longer confined to nursing homes and hospitals. Loie not only describes the origins of the infection, but how to mitigate for it. Loie warns that C. auris is predicted to appear in the surgery center setting as well as many other locations that one would least suspect. It is no longer just a hospital concern!
