Loie graduated with her RN 25+ years ago and then received a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Leadership.  Loie was certified (CIC) in Infection Control in 2005.  She possesses a varied medical/surgical nursing background including emergency medicine and trauma.  Infection Control became her area of specialty in 2003.  Loie has authored and co-authored several abstracts for both APIC and SHEA and has presented at several National APIC conferences around the country.  She is the co-author of a chapter in the 3rd edition of the SHEA text, “Practical Epidemiology in Healthcare.”

Loie was an Infection Prevention Specialist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis Missouri and had overall responsibility of the BJC Health System surgery centers’ infection control programs.  Loie has been involved with Excellentia Advisory Group for several years as our Infection Preventionist and Academic Speaker. Now that Loie has retired from BJC in 2025, she has become much more available to Excellentia for more quality Infection Prevention programs.

  • State the basic components of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization
  • Identify products and equipment used to properly clean, disinfect and sterilize instruments, devices and equipment
  • Review processing issues “in the news”
  • Evaluate potential auditing measures to ensure appropriate results from cleaning, disinfection and sterilization
